I started my collaboration with David Seeley and Seeley Architects a few years ago: the houses he designs along the Great Ocean Road are iconic and I was dreaming of working with him. His architecture is contemporary, simple but sophisticated and never ordinary.
This particular house in Anglesea is like a concrete vessel facing the ocean. When I work with David I know that I have to tune down my and design and make it almost minimal. I I usually work with native coastal plants to re connect the house with the surrounding landscape, and I like to create a contrast between a strong design and a the softness of the vegetation.
On this site I tried to retain the existing vegetation as much as possible and include it in the design: established Acacia, Banksia and Melaleucas become the starting point for the new garden, where mass planted natives create a sensual and inviting outdoor space.
